Welcome to the Alexandria Figure Skating Club!

The Alexandria Figure Skating Club (AFSC) Skates out of the Runestone Community Center in Alexandria, MN.

AFSC offers Group Learn to Skate USA lessons for skaters learning to skate, and also private lessons for skaters advanced beyond the Learn to Skate USA Curriculum. We welcome skaters from Alexandria and all surrounding communities in west central Minnesota - from Sauk Centre to Morris, Willmar to Parkers Prairie and beyond, we welcome you to skate with us!

Please see the calendar for private and class ice times.  Registration forms are available to download. Please email your registration form to kjuettner02(at)gmail.com or mail it to the address on the contact page. Remember, you must have completed an AFSC membership form and paid your membership fees for 2019-2020 season before you may skate on any AFSC ice.

We do have some skate rentals available and can help fit skaters. Please contact a board member for more details on our rental program. We only have a limited number of skates available, so contact us early if you are interested.

USFS Test Session:  Friday, September 27, 2019 - Mark your calendars and join us for an official USFS test session for Moves and Singles Free Skate.  Registration information to come.

Compete USA Summer Camp:  Sunday, August 25, 2019, hosted by the Vacationland FSC in Brainerd, MN.  Look for details on the flyer on our forms page.  Its a great opportunity for our Learn to Skate skaters to learn more about our amazing sport and try new things!  Registration can be found on the following website:  centralmncompeteusasummercamp2019.eventbrite.com.  Registration deadline is August 2, 2019.

 

Summer Ice:  Starts Monday, June 10, 2019.  The registration forms for group lessons, private ice and power hockey (late summer) are available on our forms page.  The skating year restarts in summer so memberships for the 2019-2020 season are due now.  There is also an updated coach listing for those interested in private lessons.

**** SUMMER ICE TIME CHANGE **** This message is for those of you who take private lessons in the summer and have prepurchased or buy on to our Monday and Thursday ice sessions.

ON MONDAYS: Due to class numbers, we have combined the class times and, therefore, the private ice will change by 30 minutes. The private ice schedule is now as follows on Mondays beginning June 17, 2019:

6:15-7:00 Group Lessons

7:00-7:15 Group Lessons - Bridge Class

7:30-8:30 Lo/FS/Moves/Hockey (August dates will go back to the original 8:00 start time)

8:30-9:30 Int/FS (August dates will go back to the original 9:00 start time)

ON THURSDAYS: Due to low enrollment in the Skating Disciplines class, it has been cancelled and therefore the Int/FS and Off Ice Jumps Class will change by 30 minutes.  The schedule is now as follows on Thursdays beginning on June 20, 2019:

5:30-6:30 Lo/FS/Moves/Hockey

6:30-7:30 Int/FS

7:45-8:15 Off Ice Jumps

Infinity DVDs:  If you missed our annual spring banquet, you can pick up the show DVD that you ordered at the skating office during summer lessons.  Check the calendar to see ice times when staff will be at the rink.  DVDs are not mailed out - you must pick up your copy at the rink.

Weather Related Announcements - Generally the AFSC does not cancel ice due to the weather. However, in the event that the ice times are cancelled due to the weather, AFSC will send out email notification via the AFSC Mailing List with the details of the cancellation, and if possible local media outlets will be notified as well.

Central MN Compete USA Competition Series: The AFSC is a part of this competition series which runs January through March.  Our club hosts the Battle of the Blades in March and is a fun, low stress competition for beginning skaters.  The 2020 competition will be held on March 14, 2020!  For more information visit the series website at  www.centralminnesotaseries.org.
