Holiday Skating Exhibition & Scholarship Fundraiser

Sunday, December 14th - 6:30 pm  at the RCC

 

Join us for our Annual Holiday Skating Exhibition on Sunday, December, 14th at 6:30 pm at the Runestone Community Center.  This  event is open to the public. Coffee, cider and cookies will be served.  A special appearance by Santa and his Elves is scheduled, as well as routines by our talented advanced skaters!  This event will also be a fundraiser to raise funds for our scholarship fund, which is used to help skaters in need.  There will be an admission fee with all proceeds going to the scholarship fund.   Food shelf donations - You may also bring any boxed or canned goods to the arena between now and the Christmas Exhibition.  These will be boxed and delivered to the food shelf in Alexandria.  Thank you!  We hope to see all of you there! 

FREE New Skater & Rental Skate Programs

January thru February 2009

Our figure skating club is pleased to be offering FREE beginning skating lessons to any NEW skater ages 4 & up that wishes to try figure skating or hockey - Limited to the first 100 skaters who register!!  Must be a Basic 1 level skater. These lessons are held on Mondays during our Winter skating session at the RCC arena in Alexandria, and will begin again January 5th. Click here to view/print the New Skater Registration Form, and call Michaela Olson at 320-762-2803, or Kris Juettner at 320-846-3365 to register.  We also have a limited number of rental skates available on a first come, first served basis. Questions? Parents of new skaters, please click here to read more information on how to prepare your skater for a more positive skating experience. Thank you for encouraging and participating in your child's skating experience.  New skaters who participated in the Fall session and wish to continue skating in the Winter session, must register again before the end of December!  If your skater has passed testing into Basic 2 classes, you will need to fill out the regular registration forms listed in the next section below for the Winter Skating session.  Free skating is only offered to beginning Basic 1 skaters.  Thank you for allowing your child to try the fun sport of figure skating with our club!!

Register now for private ice for the Winter Skating Session.  Ice is available beginning Sunday, January 3rd thru Monday, February 23rd at the Runestone Community Center in Alexandria.  Click here to view/print the Private Ice registration form.  Your skater may practice their basic or free skate skills during this extra ice time.  Coaches are also available for private lessons during this ice time.  Skaters must complete a new registration form before the end of December for January & February ice times to receive the discounted group rates!!  Please turn in your forms on time, or you will pay the buy-on rate.  Thank you!

Check out our Coaches page for a coach that meets your child's skating needs.  We have several familiar coaches returning, in addition to a new coach.  TJ Pendergast joined us in late September.  She was previously a coach with the New Prague, Minnesota skating club.  Welcome, TJ!!  Please see one of our coaches for more information on skating tests & upcoming competitions.

Off-Ice & Ballet Classes offered at RCC

Off-Ice and Ballet classes are now being offered on Monday & Thursday afternoons beginning Monday, November 10th thru Monday, December 22nd.  The cost is $5 per 45 minute class.  Please call Kelly Cabana at 320-310-7204 to register and for more information.  The classes will be held in the upstairs workout/dry land area of the East Rink at RCC.  Please wear comfortable clothing, tennis shoes, and tie back your hair.  Click here to view/print the Class Information form.  Click here to view/print the Class Calendar.

AFSC began 30th Year of Skating July 1, 2008

Our club began a new skating year which runs from July 1, 2008 - June 30, 2009.  You will be required to complete a new membership form before you will be allowed to skate during club ice times.  Annual membership fees are due when the form is submitted.  Private ice skaters will receive a USFS packet when they turn in their registration forms at the office.  Click here to view/print our annual membership form.
